Affordable, Accessible Primary Care Key to Startup of Bossier Community Health Center

A new avenue of affordable, accessible healthcare has now opened for residents of the Shreveport/Bossier area.

Trinity Community Health Centers of Louisiana announced its acquisition and expansion of Louisiana Family Medicine of Bossier at 2890 Douglas Drive, opening as Bossier Community Health Center on May 28 of this year.

“We are a Federally Qualified Health Center,” explains CEO Deano Thornton.  “We believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless their ability to pay.  As an FQHC, we can deliver just that.  We accept all types of insurance:  Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and those with no insurance at all.  We use a sliding scale fee depending on household income.”

Bossier Community Health Center is not simply a provider for the low-income nor does it cut corners to deliver this quality primary care services through their friendly, knowledgeable staff.  Three family practice physicians are ready to assist patients, in the persons of Dr. George Waterfallen, Dr. Andrew Gong and Dr. Dirk Rainwater.

Additionally, the center offers the services of Family Nurse Practitioners  Randy Johnson and Megan Scott.  Note that walk-in patients are welcome.

This team of skilled providers believes that “Better Healthcare Is Local.” With a focus on preventative care and management of chronic disease, Bossier Community Health Center offers wellness checks, primary care for patients with illness, COVID-19 and Flu testing, immunization shots and more.

A pediatric program under a Family Nurse Practitioner includes wellness checks with hearing and vision screening, hemoglobin checks, growth and development checks, ADHD management, an in-house lab and sports physicals.   Beginning October 6, Dr. Gentry Haughton will be providing Podiatry services to patients and will be accepting most major insurance and Medicaid plans.

As witnessed by growth in its other health centers in Winn, Grant, Rapides, Lincoln, Bienville and Avoyelles parishes, Trinity will strive to quickly expand the services that will be available here at the Bossier Center.  “More is coming soon for our client base here,” assures Thornton.

Area residents will find Bossier Community Health Center’s location convenient on Douglas Drive, off Airline Drive.  Office hours are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  For appointments or to find more information on what we have to offer, call 318-742-6900.  Or just come by and see us.
